BRIEF: Yuba County offers classes for National Public Health Week

April 03--Health services available to the community in Yuba County are showcased during National Public Health Week with classes, activities and information.

The free event is from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. today to Friday at Yuba County Health and Human Services, 5730 Packard Ave., Linda.

There is a break from noon-1 p.m.

In addition to information and activity centers, classes offered during the week include:

Today -- tobacco cessation; nutrition; preconception health; immunization information; and diabetes prevention.

Tuesday -- diabetes prevention; parenting class; STD information; disaster preparedness; and tobacco cessation.

Wednesday -- oral health.

Thursday -- "Spot the Tot" class on safe driving; illness prevention; and infant health.

Friday -- disaster preparedness; lead poisoning prevention; and oral health.

Classes on car seat safety with free car seats are presented in Spanish on Wednesday and in English on Thursday; and on helmet safety with free helmets, while supplies last, on Wednesday.

Proof of Yuba County residency, photo identification and class attendance are required for free car seats and helmets.
