Flax seed fiber sold nationwide, including Walmarts in 23 states, recalled for salmonella

Miami Herald - 1/31/2020

Jan. 31--Salud Natural prides itself on natural products, but has recalled 11 lots of Nopalina Flax Seed Fiber capsules and powder after the FDA says it found salmonella in an ingredient.

The ingredient, senna leaves powder, tested positive for a hat trick of salmonellas: salmonella Gaminara, salmonella Kentucky and Salmonella Oranienburg. According to the company-written, FDA-posted recall notice, Salud Natural has stopped using that brand of senna leaves powder.

The flax seed products are sold in retail stores nationwide as well as via the company's website. One of the retail outlets, Walmart, issued a notice of the FDA's public health alert regarding Nopalina Flax Seed products before the company posted the recall.
